They are inspired by her experience as an interior designer and her love of simple and elegant geometric shapes. These paintings blend hard edge design with organic visual elements in a stunning display of bold and subtle color. Linda works in the tradition of <a href=\"https:\/\/art.rtistiq.com\/en-us\/blog\/5-famous-artists-exploring-geometric-abstraction\">geometric abstraction<\/a> and also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiart.org\/en\/paintings-by-style\/impressionism?select=featured#!#filterName:featured,viewType:masonry\">impressionism<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her geometric abstract work is reminiscent of artists such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiart.org\/en\/sonia-delaunay\/composition-with-discs\">Sonia Delaunay<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiart.org\/en\/piet-mondrian\/composition-with-gray-and-light-brown-1918\">Piet Mondrian<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiart.org\/en\/wassily-kandinsky\/color-study-squares-with-concentric-circles-1913\">Wassily Kandinsky<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiart.org\/en\/kazimir-malevich\/suprematism-1915\">Kazimir Malevich<\/a>. Many of her geometric paintings are inspired by American heritage quilt patterns. In 2014, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/11\/16\/nyregion\/a-review-of-from-heart-to-hand-african-american-quilts-at-the-montclair-art-museum.html\">New York Times<\/a> article noted, &#8220;Some critics have suggested that the quilts are interesting to contemporary art followers because their geometric patterns recall modernist abstract painting.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Linda&#8217;s palette and brushwork follow the tradition of impressionist artists such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiart.org\/en\/claude-monet\/fisherman-s-cottage-at-varengeville\">Claude Monet<\/a>, and post impressionist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiart.org\/en\/gustave-loiseau\/the-garden-behind-the-house-1915\">Gustave Loiseau<\/a>. Her representational paintings reflect the natural setting surrounding her home in the countryside of the Boston Mountains in Arkansas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To enjoy <em>these<\/em> works to the fullest, you must allow yourself to look not just at the painting but also into it, much in the way you look into a mirror not at it.
